  • I know it's been forever since I've written on here, but I really don't know what to write on here anymore.  Anyway, I got this pic from my mom earlier today and Mary thought I should post it on here.  It's quite funny if you're in to hockey, but really just quite funny in general.

  • So it's been forever since I've posted on here.  Guess it's more of a novelty while in college and since I'm done with that, Xanga falls to the wayside.

Anyways, last night Mary and I returned from our vacation to Ohio and Michigan.  We went to visit my family on both sides.  Spent a little time at home in Findlay, some time at my mom's parent's lakehouse in Jamestown and some time at my dad's parent's cottage in Ludington.  I think we figured out the last time I was at the cottage for the family vacation was in the summer of 2004 so it's been long overdue to get up there with everyone.  While we in Jamestown we also spent some time in Cedarville and got to go to the church we went too while in college.  Got to see some friends from school and also walk around the campus.  Has changed a lot in a year since we've graduated.  The new Bible Department building looks amazing.  We ate a Colonials and had some friends stop by and then got to hang out with my old roommate, Phil Schanely, and his wife.  It was a great time to just relax and hang out with some good friends.  Up at the cottage got to camp out in my tent in the front lawn, do some fishing, some sailing on my dad's catamaran, playing card games, have the traditional ice cream dinner (that's right, only ice cream for dinner), watch the fireworks on the beach and our dug out lounge chairs, trips to the candy store and overall just relaxing with family.

It was a great vacation and very much needed.  Now it's back to work.  And time for me to go to bed since I have to open at Starbucks tomorrow.

  • I am now the owner of a....

    Taylor 614ce!!!

This picture is from the Taylor website, mine looks just like it though.  I'll try and post some pictures of mine though when I have some good light, because the amber color really brings out the beauty of the maple wood.  Exciting times and I get to lead worship this Sunday playing guitar, so I get to jump in right away with my new guitar!

I got to stare at the above for a couple days last week!  Over Valentine's my lovely wife and I got to go to Lake Tahoe!  It was absolutely amazing and I definitely wasn't ready to leave the snow and the Sierras.  Wish we could have stayed longer to do some skiing, but unfortunately we couldn't.  It was nice to get away though for a little while and spend some time together away from home and relax with not much of a schedule.  We enjoyed some nice weather, cold but clear and sunny, some great Italian food for Valentine's Day dinner, and some some great time together.

Something that was also quite exciting is something I found tonight....on cbs.com they have full episodes of MacGyver!  Haven't seen the show in ages, but watching them now!

    First Post of 2008

So a belated Happy New Year to everyone!  I figured it was about time to update so here it is.  Being a worship pastor now, I can join the ranks of other worship pastors in saying that Christmas is quite a busy time.  We didn't do any big cantata or production, but it was still a busy time of year.  We had our Christmas service on the 23rd of December and for that we decided to do some Christmas jazz music.  So I spent time getting a group of musicians together to play for that.  We ended up with a quintet; piano, bass, guitar, drums and sax.  I got to play bass and it was a lot of fun as I really haven't had a chance to play jazz since my senior year in CU Jazz Band.  Then the next day was our Christmas Eve service.  A fairly short service, but one filled with lots of singing of traditional Christmas carols.  They both went really well though.

It was my first Christmas away from home though.  Definitely a weird feeling not being around my family, but I had Mary for the first time and her family has been wonderful.  It was a great first Christmas for Mary and I and there will be many more to come.  Had to get used to some new traditions though.  Mary's family has always done presents on Christmas Eve, so we did that but saved the presents my family sent for Christmas day.  So to compromise we got a little from both traditions.  Between Christmas and New Year's was a nice little break.  Not to much work at Starbucks or the church and Mary had off so it was a nice time to get to spend some time together.  The big accomplishment was that we were finally able to get our second bedroom/office to look and feel like and actual room.  We got things unpacked and put away.  It actually feels like livable space now.

Since New Year's it's been back to the grindstone at Starbucks and the church.  We've got some new things coming up in the near future at the church, so it's been busy trying to get ready for those with a lot of meetings between ministry team leaders and members of the music/worship ministry.  Be praying for that.  It's gonna call for a lot of sacrifice from a lot of people as far as time and music styles for worship.  Be praying that everyone will be willing to set aside some differences and really focus on worship during this time.  Other than that, not much else going on, so till next time....
